Study: Canadian SMBs and Email Marketing

This summer, as part of our strategic planning, we conducted a study of our customers. Nearly 300 of them, including 200 SMBs, took the time to answer its twenty or so questions. Thank you again for your contribution. The study we are publishing today (in French) shows that more and more SMBs are adopting email marketing: 15% of respondents started in the past year and 23% the year before. While three quarters of SMBs use email marketing to inform their customers, 2 in 3 use it to increase sales to existing customers and 1 in 2 to attract new ones. And it works! Among the 80% who measure their results, only 23% are dissatisfied. That’s an impressive figure when you consider that in 2 out of 3 SMBs, marketing is done by someone who isn’t a marketing specialist. It shows that our entrepreneurs aren’t afraid to step out of their comfort zone and know how to manage, even though they admit that a lack of skills is their main challenge after a lack of time. In fact, when asked what kind of help they’d like in order to be more effective, SMBs are twice as likely to ask for help with their email marketing strategy or growing their list as for new features. You’ll find the detailed results of the study in this document, and you’ll see how much it has influenced our business strategy.
